David Bergeal

David is an Application Technology Fellow at Johnson Matthey, specialising in clean air aftertreatment technologies. He holds degrees in Fine Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from INSA Rouen and Applied Chemical Engineering from IFP School Paris.
With over 25 years at Johnson Matthey, David has built extensive expertise across modelling and aftertreatment applications within the Clean Air sector. He has held a range of technical specialist and leadership roles, including leading the EMEA applications development group across multiple European sites. In this role, he was responsible for delivering application development programmes for both diesel and gasoline catalytic converter technologies to global customers.
Today, David operates in a global strategic capacity, shaping technology direction and advancing simulation capabilities. He leads the development of advanced aftertreatment system models, supporting innovation and performance optimisation across Johnson Matthey’s Clean Air portfolio.
